In anticipation of receiving 2016 Emergency Solutions Grants (“ESG”) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”), the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (the “Department”) is releasing the 2016 ESG Notice of Funding Availability (“NOFA”). The deadline to submit 2016 ESG applications is April 8, 2016, 5:00 p.m. Austin local time. All the NOFA and application related material is available at: http://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/community-affairs/nofas.htm.

 

The Department will hold an Application Webinar on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. Austin local time. Stakeholders and interested organizations may register to attend the webinar online at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8572147065574386947. The Application Webinar will be recorded and posted on the Community Affairs webpage for future reference.

 

ESG funds can be utilized for 1) the rehabilitation or conversion of buildings for use as emergency shelter for persons experiencing homelessness; 2) the payment of certain expenses related to operating emergency shelters; 3) essential services related to emergency shelters and street outreach for persons experiencing homelessness; and, 4) homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing assistance.

 

Applicants must request a password and username for electronic submission of Application by Thursday, April 7, 2016, 5:00pm Austin local time at https://tdhca.wufoo.com/forms/request-for-user-name-and-password. ESG NOFA and Application questions can be submitted online at https://tdhca.wufoo.com/forms/2016-esg-application-questions-form/.
