  1. Outreach to Toon Towne in Todd Mission, TX-Ella McGruderJudy LeUnes with Project Unity received an email from teachers concerned about children at Toon TowneCoalition Discussion:
      • What concerns do teachers have? food, clothing, hygiene
      • CPS involvement: school could get CPS involved, but that could be taking children away from families
      • Plan:
        • Meeting with Todd Mission Chief of Police-Ella McGruder, Sara Mendez, and Alsie Bond
        • Educate Navasota ISD on issues that can be addressed

  • Committee has been meeting to create a plan to bring awareness to these issues
  • Raquel presented PowerPoint to Coalition
  1. Agency Highlight: City of College Station-Brian Piscacek
  • 13,000 units in College Station and only 100 available to rent
  • Tax Credit Properties:
      • Private developers apply for tax credit-competitive process on annual basis.
      • No Bryan/College Station applicants this year for tax credit. Developers compete with other areas. Developers in other areas usually score higher, so it is discouraging to developers in B/CS.
      • Windsor Point: tax credit property. These units provided affordable housing for 15 years, which ended in 2015. New owners want to target students instead of affordable housing.
